A few projects from my work at AWS. The failover project is still in development; its expected result is marked as a projection.
The networking layer for IPv6 adoption across ~700,000 public RDS databases (18.5% of the fleet) in 30+ AWS regions. I worked on the networking workflows on a split-horizon DNS architecture, so the same endpoint resolves correctly from inside and outside the VPC, over v4 and v6 alike.
I built a validation suite covering nine failover and network conversion scenarios ahead of launch. More than 200 enterprises adopted IPv6 within the first 60 days.
I built a retrieval-augmented diagnostic tool to help on-call engineers find relevant documentation during incidents. It uses Amazon Bedrock and OpenSearch to search more than 10,000 technical documents.
The tool reduced incident investigation time by 74%.
I worked on moving Lambda’s networking logic from a larger service into a dedicated gRPC microservice, with parallel initialization to reduce cold-boot time.
Result: $3M in annual infrastructure savings and cold-boot times down 180 seconds. The same work pushed DNS availability for Lambda non-VPC environments from 94% to 97%.
After an RDS Multi-AZ failover, DNS propagation can delay connections to the standby database. I’m working on the networking changes to shorten that delay.
The target is a 70% reduction in DNS propagation time during failover. This is a projection, not a measured production result.
